Looking to keep the kids entertained during the Easter holidays? We’ve put together a cracking guide for you.

Save on your travel with our Family Day Ticket – only £10 and can be bought on the Go North East appor from your driver. The tickets covers up to two adults and three children under 16, with a minimum of one adult and one child required.


Life Science Centre – Friday 30 March until Sunday 15 April

Chocolate workshops are back and this year they will run every day throughout the entire Easter Holidays. Join the Science Explainers and learn why Life Science Centre love chocolate so much – and yes, there’ll be a chance to taste some too!

Once you’ve sampled some chocolate, you can head to the Science Theatre and check out the new show The Secret World of Gases. Discover how gases will be used in the future, find out how cold liquid nitrogen is and how air can become a liquid.

This Easter is also your last chance to catch the blockbuster exhibition Dino Jaws, which will become extinct on Sunday 15 April.

You can even save on admission with us – one free child admission to the Science Centre with every full paying adult when you show your bus ticket at reception.


Beamish Museum – Friday 30 March until Monday 2 April

Enjoy a cracking day out at Beamish this Easter with lots of egg-citing activities happening at the museum. Take part in their Easter egg trail and much more. Can you find all the eggs the Easter Bunny has hidden around the museum?

Blue Reef Aquarium – Friday 30 March until Sunday 15 April

Learn all about the eggs under the sea as Blue Reef Aquarium take a fascinating look at eggs from our favourite marine animals.

Head to the discovery zone and dig for real shark’s teeth and learn all about these fascinating creatures!

Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens – Saturday 17 March until Sunday 15 April

Can you find all the dinosaur eggs hiding in the Museum and Winter Gardens? Find each one and crack the mystery code to win a dinosaur-themed prize! £2.50 per entry, purchase your trail at the museum shop.


Discovery Museum in Newcastle – Friday 30 March until Sunday 15 April

Follow the clues and eggs-plore the galleries and interactive displays to hunt for the hidden eggs. Each egg contains a letter. Collect all the letters, solve the trail puzzle and be entered into a prize draw to win a sweetie hamper.


Stephenson Railway Museum – Friday 30 March until Sunday 15 April

There’s plenty of Easter holiday fun to be had at Stephenson Railway Museum – ride the Easter Eggspress, follow the Easter egg trail around the museum and join in the fun at the Springtime Adventurers event.


Wharton Park in Durham – Saturday 31 March until Sunday 15 April

Become a gnome detective for the day and enjoy the Easter park trail finding the hidden garden gnomes, around the grounds, discover the gnomes’ names and complete the trail.

Trail sheets can be purchased from the café between 10.00am – 4.00pm, 50p per trail sheet, no booking required.


Quayside Seaside – returns from Friday 16 March

One of NewcastleGateshead’s most iconic spaces is transformed into a seaside paradise complete with deckchairs, palm trees, candy-striped beach huts, golden sand and a kids’ climbing wall. A new addition to the Quayside Seaside for 2018 is a playground area equipped with a slide and a fireman’s pole, which is sure to be a big hit with children aged between 3-7 years.


Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts – various times and locations

Whether you’re having a go at being a Victorian explorer, or seeking out the wild creatures that live in the woods, you’ll never be short of an adventure. Many of the places will also be offering games and craft activities galore, so you can stay for a whole day of fun.

What’s more, everyone will be rewarded with a delicious Cadbury treat at the end of each completed hunt.


The Word in South Shields – Friday 30 March until Sunday 15 April

A wide range of exhibitions and activities for the family to enjoy, including ‘Monsters! The Good, the Bad and the Cuddly’, Monster Mash Stories, Science Buddies and arts and crafts.
