Bespoke Mobile ordering App is Catch of the Day for Monk Fisheries

Screen Shot 2016-01-15 at 09.12.43A North Tyneside takeaway business passionate about freshness has invested in a bespoke mobile ordering app to further enhance its customer experience and reduce wastage.

The tailor-made Monk Fisheries app introduces a new ordering platform that has transformed the West Monkseaton fish and chip shop from a traditional takeaway into a future-proof foodie empire in keeping with the digital age.

Since the launch of the app in late-2015, Monk Fisheries has seen the number of downloads increase week-on-week with the service becoming the preferred method of ordering for many of its customers.

The digital menu offers a simple order and collection service that allows Monk Fisheries to prepare food on an order-by-order basis, ensuring the highest quality and freshness, whilst reducing customers’ waiting time and food wastage.

Chris Stuart, owner of Monk Fisheries which is renowned for its fresh food using locally sourced ingredients, said: “Our aim is for Monk Fisheries to become the go-to place for fish and chips in North Tyneside and we wanted to take the business into the future using more of the digital technology available, so an exclusive mobile ordering service was the natural next step.

“It’s all about providing a simple solution for customers and reducing their wait time. Fish and chips are always best served fresh from the fryer, but customers often prefer not to have to wait. Our new app allows us to prepare customers’ meals to order which means they can enjoy the freshest food upon collection and we are also able to minimise the amount of food waste.

“As part of the introduction of the new app we also offer a 20% discount to first-time customers and have launched a loyalty card scheme, which are both proving extremely popular with our regular customers.”

The introduction of the mobile ordering app follows significant investment in the Monk Fisheries business by Chris and his wife Katie, who took over the Seatonville Road takeaway in autumn 2014, and then the neighbouring Deli 13 business in 2015.

The Monk Fisheries app is available to download for free via iTunes and Google Play, offering customers a 20% discount on their first order. For further information call 0191 251 7268 or visit www.monk-fisheries.co.uk.
