North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Tees Pride 10KTHE countdown’s under way to one of the highlights of the regional athletics calendar – the 2016 Tees Pride 10k Road Race.

The race is once again sponsored by leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey, and takes place on Sunday, September 4 with the ever-popular SABIC 3k Fun Run.

For more than a decade the Tees Pride 10k has proved a huge hit with runners, joggers, walkers and charity fundraisers – and there’s still plenty of time to get in shape for this year’s event.

This week representatives of the key sponsors gathered at Acklam Hall to officially launch the 2016 race.

Debbie Whittingham, sales and marketing director at headline sponsor Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, said: “This is our third year sponsoring the Tees Pride 10k, and we are thrilled to be launching this year’s event from our Acklam Hall development.

“This race is a real highlight in our calendar and a few of our own team members are taking part once again.”

Mark Harrison, SABIC’s Regional Director EHSS, said: “SABIC have previously supported Runmiddlesbrough events and are thrilled to be sponsoring the 3k Fun Run this year.

“The Tees Pride 10k is such a well organised, well attended event and sees the whole community coming together, across all ages and backgrounds.

“We are passionate about promoting health and wellbeing as part of our Corporate and Social Responsibility programme and look forward to yet another fun-filled, family orientated and active day out.”

Chris Smith, Director of Business Development at 10k race T-shirt sponsor Thirteen, said: “This fantastic event attracts people from across the region and country-wide, promoting the town, its attractions, its people and community spirit.

“As the largest housing provider in the Tees Valley, we’re delighted to be supporting this year’s 10k, which continues to put Middlesbrough firmly on the map.”

Councillor Lewis Young, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, said: “The Tees Pride 10k really is one of the highlights on the town’s calendar, and I’m delighted that Taylor Wimpey and SABIC are once again sponsoring this fantastic event.

“The runs have something for everyone, regardless of age of ability, and over the years have helped to raise a huge sum for some great causes.

“I’m delighted to formally launch the 2016 event, and here’s hoping for another record breaking entry to further establish the Tees Pride 10k as the best event of its kind in the region.”
