North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

DSC_5908_smallTeesside digital firm Eighty8 Design have recently celebrated 5 years of business as well as an office move to the brilliant new Boho 5 building.

The latest addition to Middlesbrough’s forwardthinking Boho Zone provides a stunning modern setting to a site steeped in history. Previously used as a railway link to the iconic Middlesbrough docks, the site is now home to 24,000 square feet of vibrant workspace for digital and creative companies.

Technical Director Shaun Buckle is relishing the new surroundings: “Boho 5 is a fantastic location! We are incredibly lucky to have moved from one brilliant building to another having previously been officed down the road at Boho 1. We love what the Boho Zone brings to Middlesbrough and it’s amazing to be one of the first firms to take advantage of this amazing new site.”

The move to new premises has come about after the firm doubled their staff numbers due to a high demand for work from an evergrowing list of clients. Having gone from strength to strength after a cash influx from partnering firm Viral Effect, Eighty8 are enjoying a new lease of life going into their fifth year in new surroundings.

Creative Director Jonathan Waters sees a bright future ahead of the firm, he reflects: “It’s an exciting time for Eighty8 Design. Not only are we growing in terms of physical numbers, but we are also growing as a design agency. We’re taking on a wide variety of clients with a broad list of demands and we’re relishing each challenge that is coming our way.”

Though the desks have doubled in the Eighty8 office, Managing Director James Pennington sees this only as the start of the firm’s growth.

“After being involved with the company for 6 months now, and knowing both Jonathan and Shaun professionally for a number of years, it’s fantastic for the company to move into a creative space to accommodate a growing team. I fully expect the staff number to double again in the next 6 to 9 months and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future brings!”

As Eighty8 Design thrive in an inspiring new creative space, the hope is that many more businesses will follow. One of the firm’s primary goals is to keep business on Teesside and hiring local talent is high on their list of priorities.

It’s no secret that the area has had it hard of late; thanks to the Boho Zone, new and growing businesses can finally find a foothold in the exciting, evolving creative quarter of Middlehaven.
