North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

A far from Dodgy Line Up Promises Fun for all the Family

DodgyBritpop icons, Dodgy, are headlining a day of live music and family fun in the North East this weekend.

The group, who rose to fame in the 1990s with hits such as If You’re Thinking of Me, Staying Out for the Summer and top five smash, Good Enough, will be performing at the Amphitheatre, South Shields on Saturday (June 27).

Before that visitors will have the chance to enjoy more live music and entertainment for all ages with an afternoon Summer Fayre in nearby Bents Park.

This includes performances by The Drum Young Orchestra, State Express Five, Benfield Morris Dancers, ST Gymnastics Club and The Sour Dogs, as well as an Olympic-style obstacle course and a variety of stalls.

Both events, which are free to attend, form part of the South Tyneside Festival, organised annually by South Tyneside Council.

Dodgy’s gig, which runs from 7pm until 9pm, marks the end of the festival’s month long Amphitheatre Live Music programme, which has welcomed performers from across the North East since the start of June.

The Summer Fayre, which runs from 12.30pm until 4.30pm, is a one off event and forms part of the festival’s family focussed approach, which also incorporates an Alice in Wonderland themed parade on July 4 and a series of Kids Fun Fest parties from July 28 to August 20.

The Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Richard Porthouse, said: “The diversity of the South Tyneside Festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year, many of whom return regularly throughout its three month run.

This Saturday is an ideal opportunity for music lovers and families of all ages to spend the day enjoying free activities and performances from a host of top British talent.”
