Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Screen Shot 2016-05-04 at 12.09.10North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC) member ACB could write the ABC of business success with its turnover and workforce doubling in the last three years and a new base just opened in Newton Aycliffe.

The company, which specialises in air compressors and Vacuum pumps, has its main North East workshop in Dunston, Gateshead but due to substantial new business in the south of the region it has launched an office in Incubation House, Aycliffe Industrial Estate.

Paul Sparke, ACB operations director, has put part of his recent growth down to NECC membership which has helped him win two new contracts for Durham University and Osborne Engineering.

He said: “We got through the recession and decided to be bullish and re-brand.  It also made sense to expand what we offered our clients rather than purely service their machines and it has really reaped rewards.  We now support our clients in a whole series of different ways including using new technologies like vibration analysis, Leak Surveys which are already saving them money.”

Stuart Miller, NECC membership sales manager said: “An important part of our service to members is the chance to win business from other members by being connected to them and we are delighted to have played a part in ACB winning these two contracts.  They are a first class business and deserve all their success.”

Paul Sparke explained he decided to join NECC as Air Compressor and Blowers Sheffield which is also part of the Thames Facilities Company, like ACBNE, had found membership really beneficial.  He said as well as the contact with potential customers the Chamber database was a useful source of potential sales information.

Another one of the turning points of ACB’s business was the link with Gardener Denver who manufacture compressors and Vacuum pumps.  ACB has been so successful in selling its products the company came second out of 52 companies in the Distributor of the Year awards.

ACBNE’s turnover now stands at £1.2m and it employs nine people.

There is an open day at the Incubation House office on Wednesday, 25 May from 10am to 3pm were customers and other businesses can learn more about what ACB offers.
