NORTH EAST accountancy firm Tait Walker has unveiled plans for its first custom mobile app, as it streamlines mobile communications with clients in preparation for upcoming regulatory changes.

The Gosforth-headquartered firm has selected MyFirmsApp, a UK software company and leader in the development of apps for accountants in practice, to modernise and enhance its client communications.

The development of the app forms an important part of Tait Walker’s preparations for the Government’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) scheme and the introduction of new data regulations. It will also bring together client accounts, finance and tax information, calculations, tools and systems in a single, easily accessible place.

Smartphones and tablets are now the most popular way to browse the internet and businesses are increasingly seeing apps as an essential part of the customer experience. Through the introduction of its new app, Tait Walker will be able to communicate with its clients in the most relevant and convenient way for them.

Alastair Wilson, tax partner at Tait Walker, said: “Our clients are increasingly using apps rather than email and, in terms of security, we feel more comfortable that any communication from us is going straight to the client on their phone and not to a desktop screen which others may be able to access.

“The introduction of new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) requires us to gain permission from our clients to communicate with them about new services, which could benefit their business, and the app provides us an easy way to do this.

“The new app will enable us to supply our clients with tools that really add value, such as the mileage and expenses trackers. We also believe that these will be useful internally so our team can keep track of their expenses and mileage, rather than use a manual log.

“As we prepare for the introduction of MTD, we anticipate that many of our clients will prefer to send information to us using their mobile phones, so we are tailoring the way we communicate and are moving away from the old idea of books and records.”

MyFirmsApp is a UK Software Company and the largest global custom app platform in the world for accountants in practice. Every single app is fully endorsed and compliant with industry professional bodies and is constantly updated to include the latest technology, saving firms time and money.

Dan Richards, head of sales at MyFirmsApp, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Tait Walker to create its first custom app. Its introduction will resonate across many aspects of the firm’s business, saving time for both the company and its clients.

“The MyFirmsApp platform is uniquely placed to give Tait Walker the functionality required to prepare for MTD, facilitate mobile communication with clients that is proven to be five times more effective at reaching recipients than email, open a powerful marketing channel, and make the firm irreplaceable in the digital and mobile relationship.

“The team here is ready to work closely with Tait Walker, as we do with all our clients, so they get the very best from their app – within the firm, with clients and as part of their marketing.”

With offices in Newcastle, Northumberland and Tees Valley, Tait Walker employs around 150 people offering large corporates, owner managed businesses and individuals a complete set of accountancy and advisory services. For more information visit www.taitwalker.co.uk.
