Teenage Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong has joined League One side Coventry City on loan.
The 18-year-old highly-rated Academy graduate will remain at the Ricoh Arena until Saturday, 16th January, where he will be under the tutelage of former Middlesbrough and Celtic boss Tony Mowbray.
Armstrong joined Newcastle at the age of nine and progressed through the ranks on Tyneside before making his first-team debut in March 2014 away at Fulham – becoming the second youngest player to represent the Club in the Premier League.
To date, the front man has made 15 appearances – the majority of which have come from the substitutes’ bench – and was handed a starting spot against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Boxing Day 2014.
Although he is yet to score at first team level, Armstrong has been prolific for the Magpies’ under-21 and under-18 sides in recent seasons, and also wore the captain’s armband for both teams on a number of occasions last term.
He has also caught the eye at international level, regularly finding the back of the net for England’s under-16, under-17 and under-18 sides, and played a key role in the Young Lions lifting the UEFA Under-17 European Championship in 2014.
Armstrong is expected to play for the Sky Blues in a friendly fixture at Cambridge this evening.
