Aladdin at Hartlepool Hall review (16th December)

The Elite Productions adaptation of Aladdin I recently visited in Hartlepool Town Hall really blew away my expectations.

Now, I’m not the largest fan of Musicals, and I really was expecting the usual, generic sing songs that could be performed with minimum effort, but that just simply was not the case!

All the singers/actors put in so much effort that was easy to see and very admirable, resulting in a flawless performance that was enjoyable from start to finish, for both children and adults alike.

Sublet adult humour mixed with a children’s performance always proves popular with the parents, and although I don’t have any children to take there was a small girl in the group I was attending with who absolutely loved the performance, getting involved at every second she could and the joy on her face was plan to see.

The star of my show was definitely Abanazar, who was played by Terence Maynard.

He perfectly executed the ‘evil’ villain role with a touch of his own class and dark humour.

This well executed role made the show a whole for me, and i have no doubts that if portrayed by a different actor would have changed the whole feel of the performance for the worse.

This does not, however, take away the amazing job the rest of the actors put in to the performance, as I previously said each actor should be very proud of themselves and are a credit to Elite Productions, so well done to all the team and its a fabulous 10/10 from us here at North East Connected!
