Alice Themed Ball to Help North East Headway

Newcastle-Discovery-Museum-LogoONE of the world’s best loved children’s stories is the inspiration for a fund raising event to help a North East charity.

On November 12 Newcastle’s Discovery Museum will host the WonderLAN Ball – raising funds for North East Headway which supports people who suffer from brain injuries.

The event, which will be themed around Lewis Carroll’s Alice In Wonderland, will raise money for Headway’s Look Ahead in the North (LAN) initiative, which takes members for a weekend of entertainment and activities to The Calvert Trust at Keilder.

The aim of the ball is to raise funds for the LAN weekend so as many places as possible can be funded.

The ball is being organised by Durham-based EMG Solicitors, which manages trusts for people with catastrophic brain injuries along with acting as professional deputies on their behalf.

Emma Gaudern, who heads up the firm, is also involved with the Headway charity and is hoping to help ensure that everyone who wants to go to the Keilder event can do so.

“The LAN event is an amazing opportunity for members of Headway in the North East to meet up, socialise and have fun,” said Emma.

“Attendees come back from the weekend away with confidence and a new group of friends who understand the challenges they face.

“It can be a life changing experience.  It is a weekend that is so important but that can’t take place without funding so we’re going to do our best to raise as much money as we can to support this important initiative.”

The event at the Discovery Museum will include live entertainment and a “topsy turvy dinner” with a number of surprises in store.

Headway is a national charity with a number of groups in the North East which support people with brain injuries and their family and carers in a number of ways.

This includes everything from helping with medical matters to providing practical information about finance and benefits.

Alastair White, regional co-ordinator for Headway said the LAN weekend was always one that members looked forward to. “We are so grateful for the support because this is just an important event that our members look forward to every year,” he said.

*Tickets for the WonderLAN ball are £550 for a table of 10. There are also a number of sponsorship opportunities available. For tickets and further information, please contact Sorted PR on 0191 265 6111 or email info@sortedpr.com
