Alison Welch, who recently relocated to the North East from Cambridgeshire, brings more than 20 years of experience in tax planning and compliance.

Alison is a graduate of Heriot Watt University where she studied accountancy and finance before going on to become a Scottish Chartered Accountant (CA) and a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA). She is currently on track to complete her STEP qualification later this year, which will make her one of the few advisors in the North East to hold all three qualifications.

Alison will be heavily involved in expanding the tax services at both Clive Owen’s Darlington and Durham offices and will be advising clients and owner managed businesses on matters such as capital taxes, income tax and corporation tax planning.

Alan Moore, tax partner at Clive Owen’s Darlington office, said: “Alison’s appointment is a key appointment and reflects the continued growth of the firm. It will enable us to meet our expansion plans for the forthcoming year. We are always seeking new and innovative ways to help our client’s plans for taxation and Alison’s appointment allows us to continue our focus of ensuring that the needs of both existing and new clients are met.

Alison said “I am delighted to join Clive Owen LLP, a progressive firm with a fantastic reputation.  There are currently so many changes being made to the UK tax system and I look forward to advising clients on how to plan their tax affairs and to ensure that they are structured efficiently.”
