Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

All aboard for the Daisy Chain Boat Race

A total of 22 teams will be battling it out on the River Tees to win the annual Daisy Chain Boat Race trophy on Saturday (July 7).

The competition between companies is set to be fierce this year with teams from Mercedes Benz Of Teesside, Barclays Bank, Barclaycard, Clicksco, Watson Woodhouse solicitors, PD Ports, Ingleby Barwick Golf Academy, Durham Tees Valley Community Rehabilitation Company, the National Probation Service, CF Fertilisers UK and Daisy Chain all ready to take up oars for a place on the podium.

Racing starts at 10am at Tees Barrage International White Water Centre with teams of eight taking their places in the Bell boats for the fun race which raises funds for Daisy Chain every year to support families affected by autism.

Team supporters and those set to view the spectacle are advised to arrive early to get a good spot to see all the action.

Stuart Dexter, chief executive of Daisy Chain who will be captain of Team Daisy Chain, said: “Every year the event gets bigger with the teams growing ever more competitive while still being a fun event for all the family to come along and see the teams battle it out. It’s also an important fundraiser in the Daisy Chain calendar with each team raising a minimum of £400 to take part. I am delighted to see so many companies taking part, without this kind of support we couldn’t offer our services to the 2,000 families registered with us. I’d like to say good luck to all taking part.”

In addition to the prestigious trophy, the winning team will also receive a voucher for a white water rafting experience.
