Stuart Moody has been promoted to head up Tait Walker’s Northumberland operation, which is based at number 10, Manchester Street, in Morpeth town centre.

Stuart, who was born and bred in Alnwick and lives in Warkworth, has been with Tait Walker for over 14 years and brings over 20 years’ experience into his new role of office manager, which sees him take the reins from his predecessor of 30 years Mavis Lawley – the office’s previous manager who is now stepping into retirement.

In his new role, Stuart will be responsible for developing the firm’s client base throughout Northumberland and beyond, helping owner managed and family-run businesses with all of their accounting and wealth management needs.

Stuart will also implement a wealth of Xero knowledge and Cloud accounting skills to Tait Walker’s client base – a service geared towards helping small businesses keep finances secure, streamlined and efficiently managed through a cloud platform – ideal for small businesses.

Stuart said: “Small businesses and particularly those in rural areas of Northumberland and the wider North East are increasingly embracing online accountancy since Tait Walker introduced the service in 2013.

“Xero gives them better control of their day-to-day finances, accessibility, affordability and a simple process for ‘doing the books’, so it would be great to think that one day soon we will be the ‘go to’ hub for North East SMEs’ Xero requirements, here in the heart of Northumberland.”

He added: “Mavis has left big shoes to fill, having built stellar client relationships over the years, which is what Tait Walker has become well known for, but I’m up for the challenge and looking forward to this next phase of business progression for the Northumberland team.”

Andrew Moorby, managing partner at Tait Walker, said: “Stuart has forged excellent relationships throughout his career with us to date – both with clients, local stakeholders and organisations in the North East community, making him the ideal person to head up our Morpeth team.

“We are also going to increase the availability of additional specialists to work with our clients, meaning there will be a number of familiar faces from our Newcastle office who will be increasingly visible alongside Stuart, to further enhance the existing offering at Morpeth.

“We wish Mavis all the very best for her retirement and look forward to what this next chapter holds for Stuart and the rest of the team.”
