All Star Five – Week 11

British_Basketball_League_(emblem)There is a debutante in our line-up and the first player this season to rack up a fourth appearance in our fantastic five.

Rahmon Fletcher (Esh Group Eagles Newcastle)
The Eagles’ playmaker becomes the first player this season to snap up a starting five berth for the fourth time. Fletcher booked his most recent slot after a typically assured and influential 19 points, six rebounds and six assists as his side edged out Glasgow Rocks in a hard fought win at the Emirates Arena as the reigning champions moved to 13-0 in the BBL Championship.

Warren Gillis (Glasgow Rocks)
It wasn’t all bad news for the Rocks since they may have seen the Eagles creep past them, but they had already shot down Sheffield Sharks. Gillis was a central figure in the success after firing 27 points against the Yorkshire side. He also harvested eight rebounds and did the business in the backcourt, while his team-mate Kieron Achara excelled under the hoop.

Jamal Williams (London Lions)

The Lions produced one of their biggest wins of the season at Surrey Scorchers and while all eyes have been on the return to action of Demond Watt, it was Williams who turned heads. He grabbed his debut berth after firing 19 points and completing a double-double with 10 boards – as well as handing out four assists and snatching two steals.

Kieron Achara (Glasgow Rocks)

The Great Britain star was on fire for the Rocks to see off a very capable Sheffield Sharks unit. Achara finds himself in our starting five for the second time this season, after writing a sparkling stat line at the Emirates Arena. He produced 17 points from a classy and efficient six of eight shooting effort and added 12 rebounds to seal a double-double – as well as dishing up four assists.

Darius Defoe (Esh Group Eagles Newcastle)

The Eagles’ big man saves his peg in our locker room and is back in the starting line-up again – retaining his place after another eye-catching outing. This time Defoe produced the best of the weekend in the BBL with 26 points and 11 rebounds against Manchester Giants in an eye-popping shooting display, which witnessed him make a magnificent 79% from the floor.

Off the bench – Drew Sullivan (Leicester Riders), Perris Blackwell (Worcester Wolves), Demond Watt (London Lions), Callum Jones (Manchester Giants), Jordan Williams (Cheshire Phoenix), Cardell McFarland (Bristol Flyers), Rob Marsden (Leeds Force)
