A COMMUNICATIONS firm which works with some of the region’s biggest employers has made another key appointment.

LEC Consultancy, launched by former journalist and PR professional Leanne English four years ago, has taken on apprentice Courtney Million as design and marketing assistant.

Twenty-year- old Courtney joined the team in August 2015 and after completing her NVQ Level 3 and impressing Head of Design Alan Sawyers, she was offered a permanent job with the company.

Managing Director Leanne English said: “We are delighted to appoint Courtney into the role of design and marketing assistant.

“Under Alan’s guidance, she has really excelled during her apprenticeship and proved to be an important member of the team and a real asset.

“The design side of the business has grown significantly and with a number of client wins recently, it was an easy decision to offer her the permanent job with LEC Consultancy.”

Courtney, who was recruited into the role by Peterlee-based KF Training, said: “I am over the moon to be offered the assistant’s role. As a young mum, I really wanted to take this change to impress Leanne, Alan and the team and am so pleased they’ve seen my potential.

“I am being given more and more responsibility and the chance to work on some really exciting and challenging projects which is fantastic.

“I love the job and would urge other young people thinking about their options to consider an apprenticeship as they are a great way of securing long term, secure employment.”

LEC Consultancy, which also employs an Account Manager, Felicity Collinson, and Administration and Finance Officer Hayley Matthews, has secured a number of new clients recently including J Denham Metals, SORA, ProBio, Orangebox Training and Hiatco.

It also counts NSK Bearings, ZF TRW, Mecaplast, Durham Oktoberfest, Peterlee Business Park, Astley and Hawkesworth Appliance Testing among the businesses it supports.

From its offices at Novus Business Centre in Peterlee, the company offers communications and design support including PR, marketing, social media, internal communications, brand and website development and stakeholder engagement.

Leanne added: “After a challenging start to the year, the business has really flourished and we’re certainly heading towards the end of 2016 on a high. We’re now very much focussing on our aims and objectives for 2017 which we’re confident will result in further growth.”
