Others include the group Franz Ferdinand, actor Bill Crompton, from Newcastle Radio, Alfie Joey, and Newcastle Central M.P.Chi Onwurah to name but a few. As well as our own Artists and some of those who produce work for the Art Houses they have  all producedsomething really special to help raise money and awareness for the Foodbank. The auction will enable you to bid for the 6” x 6” Original pieces of artwork and 100% of the proceeds of the auction will go to the charity.

Why not come along to the gallery and see if you can get your very own original piece of art and support a key regional charity.

This year North East Art Collective has made the Newcastle West End Foodbank their Charity of the year and hope to raise valuable funds for the charity through the auction.

Gabby Morris, manager at North East Art Collective and the auction planner said:

We have all become united in our effort to raise money and we hope that you will join us in our venture, by visiting the gallery and bidding on the work that you like.

In 2015, we raised over £6,000 for Rape Crisis. This time, with more well-known names contributing pieceswe are hoping to raise much more.”

The ‘Mini Masterpiece II’ display will be up until April 19thwhen bidding will close at 9pm so please do call in and enjoy a look around.

If you cant visit during this period but are interested in supporting THIS GREAT cause, dont be disappointed, ALL artwork has been uploaded to their website (www.northeastartcollective.co.uk) and silent bidding will begin online on March 26th and ending April 22nd at 11pm

The West End Foodbank is the UKs largest foodbank. The foodbank first opened its doors in 2013 and currently helps to feed over 40,000 people every year. In 2017 a group of NUFC fans clubbed together to form the NUFC Fans Foodbank, this group of supporters now stand proud at every home game trying to help a cause that shouldn’t exist in our present society.

In November we were touched by the story of local artist Serann. She had turned to the Foodbank to help to feed her family. Serann was so grateful for the support that they had offered her that in thanks she donated an original piece of artwork to the Foodbank to auction off for the charity. This was displayed in the gallery and the winning bid came in at £800, even better, on collection of the work the winning bidder brought us to tears by rounding up their bid with a cheque for £1000.

Each original in the auction has been specifically produced for this event with the West End Foodbank in mind, but that doesn’t mean they are all football themed.

As well as the 6” x 6” Original artwork collection, we also have an original Dignity’ Campaign painting in the auction, painted by one of our generous artists Edward Tibbs. The painting is a 16” x 16” Original Oil on Canvas framed in a 3” decorative textured black frame, and would usually sell for £995. Edward has donated this painting to the NUFC Fans Foodbank to help them with their efforts; all money for this painting will also be donated to the Foodbank. As a true NUFC supporter for more than 50 years Edward is proud that his club and fellow fans have united for such a cause.

North East Art Collective is a real gem of an art gallery and can be found on the upper level of Eldon Garden (just off Eldon Square) above Percy Street.
