Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

209Six Hambleton businesses have walked away with top spots in two prestigious award ceremonies.

In the Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose Awards, which is the largest celebration of tourism excellence in the UK, The Cleveland Tontine won Restaurant with Rooms award and Thirsk Tourist Information Centre won Visitor Information Award.

The awards recognise and reward the very best of the industry throughout Yorkshire and identify a wide range of achievement in tourism provision, such as best large and small hotels, pubs, restaurants, camping and caravan sites and cultural events. The shortlisted businesses underwent six weeks of mystery shopping by specialist companies before a judging panel spent a challenging day deciding on the winners. The award ceremony took place at Leeds First Direct Arena on 9 November. Three other Hambleton businesses were also finalists.

Whilst in the Flavours of Herriot Country Awards held at Tennants at Leyburn four other local businesses walked away with five out of the eleven awards on offer.

Now in its fourth year, the Flavours of Herriot Country Awards is recognised as one of the highly respected and recognised awards in the region.

The Curious Table from Easingwold won Best Customer Service; Lewis & Cooper, Northallerton, were awarded Breakfast of the Year; Seasonal Salads based in Battersby collected Local Product of the Year and The Pantry from Thirsk won two awards – Best Tea Room and The Readers Choice Award.
