The Award-Winning Kingslodge Inn Brings a Taste of Summer and New Jobs to Durham

Head-chef, Christopher Bond took over the helm at The Kingslodge Inn in May and is now making his mark on the menu with the introduction of a new Mediterranean-influenced menu, inspired by fresh, healthy ingredients and spices. Together these create simple and light tasty dishes, with a great combination of flavours, perfect for any time of day.

Under Christopher Bond, who in past employment has been part of an AA two rosette winning team, The Kingslodge Inn has already achieved a five-star rating from Environmental Health, it was recently awarded the AA Dinner Award and is now a proud recipient of a ‘Highest Quality Assured’ Taste Durham award.

Christopher, 36, originally from York, and now living in South Tyneside and his Kitchen Team serve high-quality food from 7.30am until 9pm daily and he is looking for more Sous Chefs, Chef de Parties and Breakfast Chefs to join his team.

In keeping with his own love of cooking Mediterranean style food the new menu includes dishes such as Harissa Spiced Lamb; Lemon, Garlic & Thyme Chicken Skewers; Quesadillas; Orecchiette Oreja; as well as fish dishes, pub classics such as Ribeye Steak, Horseshoe Gammon, Scampi, Haddock and Chips as well as a choice of salad and vegetarian dishes, including regional favourite Pan Haggerty.

“This menu combines pub classics with new meals inspired by the Mediterranean. It’s my favourite style of cooking as it’s inspired by fresh, healthy ingredients and spiceswhich produce delicious simple and light dishes with a great combination of flavours. I am really pleased with the new menu which I hope will bring a splash of the Mediterranean to Durham throughout the year!” said Christopher Bond, Head Chef.

Occupying the former site of The Kingslodge Hotel and Finbarrs restaurant, the pub with rooms offers a casual dining experience, where customers will have a relaxed, informal dining experience, ordering at the bar before their high-quality home-cooked food is prepared to order and served to their table.

“We are really enjoying providing  Durham with a cosy and welcoming traditional pub with rooms, in a location convenient to both local people and visitors alike. We have had a great response from local residents, visitors to Durham and other customers since we opened and this new menu will enhance further our home-cooked food offering, said Leanne Jeffrey, General Manager at The Kingslodge Inn. “With the development of the food business here at The Kingslodge Inn, we are also looking to recruit people to join our kitchen team.”
