Bannatyne Group announces new luxury Spa and major investment at Ingleby Barwick health club

The Bannatyne Group has announced a £1.8 million pound investment at its Ingleby Barwick health club, which was the company’s first location.

The investment marks the 20th anniversary of the business, which was founded in 1997 by Chairman Duncan Bannatyne OBE. The Ingleby Barwick health club was the first to open and over the last 20 years The Bannatyne Group has built up a portfolio of 69 sites across the UK.

The project, which is expected to be completed in April 2018, will see the creation of a luxurious Bannatyne Spa, studios for group cycling and mind & body classes and new changing rooms and showers, including facilities for people with disabilities and families.

The Bannatyne Spa will add a new dimension to the health and wellbeing offering at the health club, with six well-appointed treatment rooms, manicure and pedicure stations and a range of spa treatments and spa days, using high quality products including Elemis and OPI.

The new poolside relaxation area will enhance the club’s wet facilities for both members and spa guests.

A new café bar with a late licence and serving Starbucks coffee will boost the club’s social activities and include a soft play area, live sports broadcasts, and outdoor patio area.

The Bannatyne Group aims to lead the way in the sector and the latest technology is being introduced to the club including MyZone, additional virtual classes and wristband entry and locker operation, incorporating cashless purchases.

Justin Musgrove, chief executive of The Bannatyne Group, said: “Ingleby Barwick will always be special as the first club opened by Duncan Bannatyne OBE. The business has come a long way in 20 years and this major investment is testament to the ambitions of the business.

“Over the last couple of years members at Ingleby Barwick have benefitted from significant upgrades to the gym, with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, and this second phase will complete the project.

“The addition of a Bannatyne Spa is fantastic news for the health club, and the local area. It will support our focus on holistic health and wellbeing and enable people to fulfil their desire for healthy lifestyles based on a blend of exercise, relaxation and rejuvenation.

“I’m really proud that the first club in our portfolio is going from strength to strength.”
