Bannatyne Group makes key senior appointments

18935The Bannatyne Group has strengthened its senior team with three key appointments.

Justin Musgrove, formerly Managing Director, has taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer. Ken Campling has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer and Board Director and Anthony Elliott as Director of Operations.

Justin Musgrove has been with the Bannatyne Group since 2007, when he joined as Group Spa Director to oversee the growth of the company’s spa portfolio. More recently he was the Group’s Commercial Director before stepping up to the position of Managing Director in 2015.

Ken joined the company in 2014 as Finance Director and has managed the establishment of an accounts team that is respected across the Group. A qualified accountant, Ken has a strong retail background and exceptional commercial acumen.

In previous roles, Ken has overseen the growth of several well-known brands including Williams Music and the Clinkard Group and was head of Finance at Delima Limited, part of the Sports Direct Group.

Anthony, who joined the Group five years ago following a successful 12-year career as a professional Rugby Union player, will have responsibility for day-to-day operations across the health club, spa and hotel businesses.

He has been the architect of the Bannatyne gym refurbishment programme adopting the very latest techniques and design, which has seen dramatic improvements in satisfaction and retention of members. Along with other members of the senior team, Anthony is involved in the Group’s expansion plans, which have already seen a number of acquisitions over the last few months.

Ken Campling said: “I am pleased and proud to have built a team that is professional and dedicated and serving the Group well.

“Personally, I am delighted to become a Board member of such a successful and prestigious company, which has an ambitious and forward-thinking senior management team. I am looking forward to working with the Board as the business continues to progress.”

Anthony Elliott said: “It has been a natural progression from professional sport to the fitness and leisure industry.

“I spent many years staying in different hotels and using different health clubs while on the road and that has given me a great perspective on what makes a facility stand out from the crowd and gives its members or customers a great experience.

“I’m proud to be part of a progressive and successful business.”

Justin Musgrove, Chief Executive of the Bannatyne Group, added: “There is a new senior management team at the Bannatyne Group and we work together exceptionally well, as can be attested by increasing member numbers and ever-growing customer demand for the health clubs, spas and hotels.

“Ken is well versed in the consumer sector and has an excellent track record of delivering profits, managing acquisitions and growth and streamlining and improving accounting systems.

“He has been an excellent addition to the senior team at the Bannatyne Group and I welcome him as a Board member.

“Anthony has made a significant contribution to the business over the last five years. The major investment in our gyms has been well received by members and Anthony’s drive and commitment has been key to the success of this important project.”

Chairman Duncan Bannatyne, Steve Hancock, Director of Estates & Facilities and Ed James, Legal Counsel & Director complete the senior management team.
