SHOPPERS will be able to snap up some pre-Christmas goodies at a series of special events at a top North East hotel.
Four star Lumley Castle Hotel, Chester-Le-Street, is holding a packed programme of shopping fayres, parties, afternoon teas and murder mystery evenings throughout the festive season – including a number of Christmas Bazaars.
On 30 November and 2, 7, 8 and 9 December, a selection of local suppliers and big name brands, such as Body Shop and Thorntons, will tempt shoppers with everything from confectionary and crafts to clothing and Christmas gifts.
Meanwhile, the castle’s Ladies of the Court will sing traditional carols and afternoon tea and mulled wine will also be available.
Lumley Castle’s famous Elizabethan Banquets will also be held throughout the month, providing an alternative to office parties for groups of friends and workmates, with a four course feast with wine and mead, served in the Baron’s Hall.
Alternatively, partygoers looking to add Las Vegas glitz to their celebrations can opt for one of Lumley Castle’s Casino Party Nights, on 17 and 23 December and try their hands at Black Jack, roulette and the wheel of fortune.
The 73-bedroom venue will also serve as a suitably scary setting for a murder, mystery dinner on 6 December, with guests invited to turn detective and solve the hideous crimes.
Also in December, music lovers will have the chance to listen to hits from some of pop’s biggest names at a series of tribute nights, and a traditional Christmas ceilidh on 9 December.
Guests attending any of the festive events are also able to take advantage of special overnight packages, offering accommodation in a choice of opulent bedrooms in the castle itself or the adjoining courtyard.
The Christmas Bazaars will take place from noon to 4pm each day with afternoon tea served at 1.30pm. There will also be an evening bazaar, from 6pm to 10pm, on 2 December, with late afternoon tea served at 7.30pm.
Entry to each bazaar costs £20 per person to include a glass of mulled wine.
