A TALENTED accountant, who comes from Bermuda, is swapping sandy beaches for the corporate world after taking up a new post.

Kat Moore, 26, spent her early life on the British-owned North Atlantic island before coming to the UK to study biology at Durham University. Deciding to pursue a career in accountancy, she studied for the professional ACA qualification, achieving it last August.

Now Kat, who lives in Durham, has taken on the role of Corporate Finance Assistant Manager at chartered accountants and business advisers Clive Owen LLP.

Based in Darlington, she will work alongside Corporate Finance Manager David Wilson and partner Angus Allan, providing assistance in a wide range of transactions including acquisitions, disposals, management buyouts and buyins, and fundraising.

Kat said she was delighted with the opportunities open to her. “I moved to the UK for higher education and decided to pursue my accountancy career here, enabling me to gain greater exposure to business in varying industries and ownership structures,” she said. “With its wide range of clients, Clive Owen LLP is the ideal place for me to achieve this, and I couldn’t be more delighted to be working for the company.”

Angus Allan, who takes the lead on corporate finance, said he felt Kat would be an asset. “With responsibility for high value and sometimes sensitive transactions, it’s essential that those on the team have the skills and personal qualities to be able to offer our clients the very best service,” he said. “I’m confident that Kat has these in abundance and feel she has a bright future at Clive Owen LLP.”
