Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

The young gun of Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club secured two big wins in the Senior British League in Halton Cheshire last Sunday. The team of Max Duffin, James Neal, Lee Tinkler and Sam Hume who have an average age of just 16.25, took on senior teams from Isle of Man and a local Derby vs Ormesby.

The first match was against the 4 th placed side Isle of Man, Max and Lee both picking up both picked up maximums, with Sam and James both picking up single wins and the team took both doubles games for an 8-2 win and Lee Tinker the Player of the Match Award

The afternoon saw a local derby vs Ormesby VI. Max once again showed his class with a double win and was matched by James, who also won up his two singles and went one better than Max when he teamed up with Sam Hume to win their doubles match. Sam and Lee also won 1 singles each to give Bishop a 7-3 win.

The wins gives Bishop some clear breathing space from the relegation zone and keep a space in the division in the clubs first season in the event.

Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club, who were recently named Mid-Durham & Dales Sports &Physical Activity Awards Junior Sports Club of the Year 2016. The club, founded in 2012, has seen rapid growth and success over the last few years, running sessions every weeknight in several locations. The club is open to people of all ages and abilities, and is always looking for new members.
