North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Big Year Ahead for Expanding Developer

CaptureHouse builder Linden Homes is on course to double its turnover in the North East this year as it expands to begin work on five new sites.

And up to 30 jobs are likely to be created by the growth, which will see the construction of 196 properties – up by 100 on 2015.

The firm, which shares a headquarters at Great Park, Newcastle with its parent company – Galliford Try – first built in the region in 2011 with just two sites at Corbridge and Howden-le-Wear.

It is now selling homes in Birtley, Gateshead, Morpeth and Sowerby in North Yorkshire and plans to launch new developments in Ponteland, Blyth, Sunderland and Gateshead during 2016.

Said Stephen McCoy, Managing Director with Galliford Try Partnerships North:  “This looks set to be a transformational year for us, as we take on new people to deliver more homes right across the region.  Our aim is to offer exceptional quality and a superior range of specification as standard. With our awarding winning house designs, this means we are offering our clients exceptional value in some of the best locations in the North East.

“This, coupled with continuing low interest rates, relatively stable prices and purchase support such as the government backed Help to Buy ISA and loans, makes home ownership more attractive and affordable to more people.

“To support our expansion we have established strong links with a tried and trusted supply chain and sub contractors in order to overcome the shortages of materials and skills which the construction industry is facing at present.  This will help us to meet the strong level of demand for homes which we anticipate throughout the coming year.”

Involvement with the Gateshead Regeneration Partnership, established to provide 2,400 new homes on 19 sites across the borough, will further boost Linden Homes’ growing profile in the region.

Some of the UK’s leading residential architects were commissioned to deliver striking and innovative homes, many of which will be unique to the developments on which they are built.

The partnership, which involves Galliford Try Partnerships, Gateshead Council and Home Group, secured the best Public / Private Partnership Award from the Local Government Chronicle and was declared one of the country’s top five joint ventures by Inside Housing.  It was also recently short listed for the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Awards in the North East.

Nationally, Linden Homes is the fifth largest residential developer in the UK and has twice been named House Builder of the Year at the Ideal Home Show Blue Ribbon event.  It was also Sustainable House Builder of the Year at the What House? Awards.
