Other responsibilities include blogging and website updates, as well as producing artwork for promotional materials – enabling her to use artistic skills developed while she studied for an Extended BTEC Diploma in Art and Design.

Beth, of Spennymoor, who spent seven years living in army camps in Germany as a child when her father was stationed there, works full time for the college’s marketing department and studies for her Level 3 apprenticeship one day per fortnight.

She said: “I’ve only been at the college for a few weeks and I’m already really enjoying my job role, which suits me really well because social media and art and design is what I love doing. It’s a great place to work.”

Kevin Burns, head of marketing and school liaison at the college, added: “Beth is one of a number of new Level 3 apprentices the college has taken on this term, and just a few weeks in is already making a huge impact.

“We created the digital and social media apprenticeship as more companies require a specialist to develop online social media strategies to promote services and influence audiences.”
