North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

durham county council largeBishop Auckland and Shildon (BASH) AAP is looking to recruit a public representative to sit on their Board and have a say on how money is spent locally.

People applying will be asked to join Durham County Council’s BASH AAP Board for up to four years and would be expected to attend board meetings which would take place at least once every two months.

They can also get involved in a variety of Task and Finish Groups which are designed to look at local priorities, develop ideas around the priorities and possibly give solutions to address these.

The three main priorities for the BASH AAP over the next 12 months are children and young people, crime and community safety, and raising aspirations through employment, education and training.

Gordon Elliott, head of partnerships and community engagement, said: “Public representatives are vital to Bishop Auckland and Shildon AAP, as they bring their individual experience and local knowledge of communities to the table.

“It’s a very rewarding role as you get to play a part in how money is spent to improve services locally. I would urge anyone interested to get in touch with Bishop Auckland and Shildon AAP to find out more.”

For more information about the public representative role, or to receive the full application pack, contact the AAP team on 03000 268663 or email bishopshildonaap@durham.gov.uk.

Completed application forms must be returned by Friday 8 July 2016. Bishop Auckland and Shildon AAP was set up in 2009, many projects across the area have been supported using funding allocated to the board. This equates to over £900,000 of investment which in turn has managed to bring in more than £840,000 into the area as project matched funding.
