Blyth AFC has announced the official signing of FA Vase goal scoring record breaker Andrew ‘Bully’ Bulford to the new season’s squad.

Bulford was the first player to score in every game of the FA Vase run in 2012 including replays, a double legged semi-final and in the final whilst playing for Dunston UTS.

Crowned Man of the Match in the Wembley final scoring both goals in the 2-0 victory against West Auckland Town, joint manager Michael Connor said signing striker ‘Bully’ was a real coup for the club.

“Bully is an out and out goal scorer and has already given Blyth another dimension scoring against Thornaby in his debut match for the club to help with our victory in our first game of the season.

“We had been after him for a while and are delighted he has fitted in so well to a strong squad and he has the potential to score many goals for us for the rest of the season too, helping us bring in those well needed points.

“He, along with the other lads, helps form our vision and determination to get to the top of the league and reach promotion.”

Although in his 13th season in the Northern league, Bulford believes it won’t be unlucky for him having gained promotion twice from division two with his previous clubs Consett AFC and Ryton.

Bulford, from Newcastle, said: “Joining Blyth AFC is an exciting challenge for me and one that I hope I can be a part of another promotion into division one. Coming from a division one team (Ashington AFC) I know a few of the other new signings such as Oliver, McGorrigan and Richardson when we played for Ashington AFC together so Blyth AFC already feels like home, and a place I feel I can add value to.

“The quality we have within the club should make our dreams of promotion realistic and I hope to continue to enjoy my football and score lots of goals.”

Bulford made his club debut on Saturday 5th August in a 5-3 home game victory against Thornaby FC scoring the 4th goal in the second half.

Blyth AFC takes on Hebburn Town away on Saturday 12th August KO 15.00 followed by the second home game of the season against Chester-Le-Street on Wednesday 16th August KO 19.45.

Each Blyth AFC home game is £6 entry on the door with concessions available by emailing info@blythafc.co.uk
