On Saturday 5 August between 11am and 4pm Blyth RNLI volunteers will be hosting their annual lifeboat open day

The event is taking place between Ridley Park and the Lifeboat Station itself, which is situated on Quay Road Blyth.

The event will feature many attractions, from the chance of meeting the volunteer crew and seeing the lifeboats in action on the River Blyth, to meeting the other Emergency Services, scale a climbing wall, NAMCO ten pin bowling, Ferguson’s of Blyth vintage vehicles and boat trips on the River.

There will also be carnival rides and plenty of stalls with Beach Hut Radio providing entertainment too.

We will also be announcing the winner of our water safety poster competition.

Paul Raine, Lifeboat Operations Manager, at Blyth RNLI said: ‘We are really looking forward to welcoming the people of Blyth and the surrounding area to the Lifeboat Station this Saturday. There will be lots for the whole family to see and do.

‘The RNLI charity saved the lives of 431 people in 2016. This is only possible by the continued generosity of the public, so why not come along with your whole family, whilst learning more about the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and supporting your local station and the service the volunteers provide.’

The Station would also like to thank both local residents and businesses for their support to enable the Open Day to take place.

We look forward to seeing you all this Saturday.
