Blyth Town FC First Team manager Mick Connor has signed the Northern League’s top goal scorer Malcolm ‘Malky’ Morien.

Malky Morien, from North Shields, has scored over 100 goals in 67 games and has been crowned top goal scorer every season for the past few years.

Having previously played for Blyth Town FC first team whilst in the Northern Alliance League, Morien said he feels like he has “come home”.

“The only reason I left Blyth Town previously was to progress my career up the league,” he said.

“Now that Blyth Town was able to qualify for the promotion into the Northern League thanks to all of the investment ploughed in, I am keen to help them all I can and be a part of a team who works together to keep achieving promotion.

“For me, being part of a team isn’t about money or contracts, it is about being with your team mates and playing for a squad and a club that you really believe in and I am excited for where Blyth Town can go not only in this league, but further up the football pyramid in years to come.”

Previously with Dunston FC in division one of the Ebac Northern League, Morien broke the goal score record of the league last season with 37 goals.

Blyth Town first team manager Mick Connor said: “I love seeing Malky back in a Blyth Town top – it is where he belongs and he is a phenomenal player and we are all over the moon to have him back with us to strengthen the squad even further.

“I believe he has the potential to score many goals for us for the rest of the season and help us bring in those well needed points.”

Morien made his return debut at home against Willington FC last Saturday (October 22) where Blyth Town won its tenth game of the season with a 5-1 victory.

Blyth Town takes on Brandon United away on Saturday, October 29 before returning for their next home game on Wednesday, November 2 at 19.30 kick-off, against Billingham Synthonia.
