Monument Mall bar and restaurant The Botanist Newcastle is set to host a gin tasting with a difference for lovers of the popular spirit on 24 January as part of its Ginuary celebrations.

‘Ginsense’ will be an immersive evening which will involve using all different senses to sample and select gins in partnership with the UK’s gin collaborative, A World of Gin. A gin expert will deliver the tasting experience within two designated time slots, 6pm and 8pm. Each session lasts for one hour and tickets are now available at £20 per person.

The New World Trading Company (NWTC) has kicked off the New Year with an innovative take on the popular January sale; Ginuary. The gin-themed sale, running until 31 January, will allow guests to enjoy deals on a selection of gin brands served across 14 participating sites including The Botanist.

The Ginuary Sale features a collaboration with four gin brands currently listed in The New World Gin List: North East-based Poetic License gin, Mason’s Dry Yorkshire gin, Langley’s gin and Williams Chase’s GB gin. Guests can enjoy a generous 2 for 1 deal on any of the four brands when ordering a perfect gin serve.

The perfect serves, created by Head Bartender Nick Whitby, contain ingredients such as orange zest and green cardamom pods, that best complement and enhance the flavour of each gin. To complete the perfect serve, guests can choose to add Fever Tree Tonic Water for a crisp and enjoyable G&T.

Nick Whitby, Head Bartender for NWTC, commented: “Our New World Gin List has proved very popular with our guests since its implementation earlier this year. So we couldn’t wait to create an occasion to celebrate some of the finest examples of gin being produced across the country, all whilst offering a refreshing angle on the traditional January sales!”

Nick’s perfect serve recipes see an appearance from Sunderland distillery Poetic License where its gin is paired with a grapefruit wedge and a sprig of mint.

Alongside all things gin, guests can also feast upon 50% off food when booking via the exclusive link: www.thebotanist.uk.com/jansale. Restrictions apply and bookings must be made through the link.
