Britain’s Got Talent star, Daliso Chaponda set to perform across South Northumberland

Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Daliso Chaponda was set to succeed from the start with judges convinced he could make it to the finals from as early as his first audition. Every week he delivered hilarious sets which led him to the final three, where Simon Cowell announced Daliso was “the best comedian Britain’s Got Talent has ever seen”. Originally from Malawi, now living in Manchester, Daliso has toured the Canadian comedy circuit as well as performing at Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2007.  He first visited the area to perform at Concordia Leisure Centre in Cramlington in 2012, and now returns immediately following his widespread TV success, and is just as excited this time around!

Daliso will perform at venues in Blyth (Mon 3rd), Bedlington (Tue 4th), Ashington (Wed 5th), Cramlington (Thu 6th), and Morpeth (7th) throughout the first week in July for the award-winning “Punch-Drunk Comedy” club, who welcome our readers to join them by visiting www.TicketSource.co.uk/PunchDrunkComedy or contacting their Box Office on 07738663379

The club and their devoted following were recently awarded “Best Event In British Comedy”, for their “Fight For Kian” event held at Blyth Sports Centre last-year. This saw off challengers such as Billy Connolly, Tim Minchin, and Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights, by pitting established stand-up comics against each-other in bouts of White Collar Boxing, presided over by the ring announcer, TV comic, Rhod Gilbert. The event and fundraising surrounding it went on to raise over £100,000 towards North-Eastern lad, Kian Musgrove’s treatment in the US for Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer.

Kian’s story hit the headlines when he was given an enormous £500,000 price tag for his life-saving treatment, and later again when Simon Cowell generously donated £20,000, after being bombarded by messages on social-media from the comedy club’s loyal Northumberland fanbase.

The club who have been responsible for bringing the likes of Chris Ramsey, Sarah Millican, and most recently ITV’s Paul “Sinner Man” Sinha from TV show The Chase, to the area, promise to showcase even more big names in British Comedy by the end of this year.  Punch-Drunk organiser, Gav Humphries declared, “Our audiences are becoming infamous on the comedy circuit for their warmth, laughter, and sheer numbers…big names in the industry are actually beginning to approach us about performing on our stages, so watch this space”.
