Building Society Supports Charity Cyclists

Screen Shot 2015-05-11 at 14.33.34Staff at the Tubwell Row branch of Darlington Building Society are supporting an intrepid cyclist’s 200 mile coastal bike ride; all in the name of charity.

Robin Raine will be sponsored, alongside fourteen of his fellow Darlington Rotary Club members, to cycle between Glasgow and Penrith, with all the proceeds going to charities in the Darlington area.  The 235 mile trip gets underway on May 8th and all the money raised will go to local charities. Already in this financial year £27,000 has been handed out to local charities including St Teresa’s Hospice, Women’s Refuge, Darlington Town Mission and many more.

The cyclists will be hoping to raise even more money than last year.  This year’s total has already been given a welcome boost with Darlington Building Society donating £50 to the cause from their Community Support Fund, as well as raising £89 directly for Darlington & District MS Society in an Easter raffle.

Speaking ahead of the ride, Robin Raine said: “We cannot wait to get this year’s ride underway. Last year’s trip was an amazing experience and we were all delighted with the amount of money that we raised for some fantastic causes. The money Darlington Building Society has donated has given us a great start towards beating our total for last year.”

Ellie Durham, Customer Service Consultant at Darlington Building Society said “Darlington Building Society prides itself on looking after local interests and we are delighted to support Robin’s fundraising efforts.

“The communities that we work in are the lifeblood of the Society and supporting local charities and organisations is a big part of our ethos.”
