A TALENTED solicitor has taken his next step up on the career ladder with a promotion as part of the residential conveyancing team at Gordon Brown Law Firm LLP (GBLF).
Craig Foot, 29, from Sunderland, who is based at the firm’s Chester le Street office, secured his new role following completion of the legal practice course and professional skills course with the University of Law.
Having joined the business in 2014 as a legal executive, after graduating university with a degree in law and gaining on-the-ground experience, Craig’s new role as a solicitor involves the conduct of residential conveyancing matters including sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity.
Craig said: “I took a less common route into the industry, as I chose to carry out studies to gain my legal executive and solicitor qualifications in my spare time whilst working and gaining experience, as opposed to staying on at university for another year after completing my law degree, as I hoped this would be a more accessible way to get into the industry.
“For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to have a career in law and never thought I’d get to where I am today. Since joining GBLF I’ve been encouraged to continue my studies to allow me to gain my solicitor qualification and the team has been really supportive during this time. I’m really pleased with how far I’ve come.”
GBLF’s residential conveyancing team is one of the largest outside of London, handling upwards of 120 files per week and employing over 35 members of staff – a number which the firm is on target to increase throughout 2016.
