Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Cash help starts to pay dividends

Owner of Northallerton Glass, Liam Spencer (pictured with employee Robin Bates)  said “I was considering joining the FSB for a number of years but when Hambleton’s discounted offer became available it encouraged me to apply. Even without the district council’s incentive the saving on business banking charges has already paid for my membership four times over and will continue to do so for many years to come. With the added benefit of the legal and employment support it made sense for me to join as part of my continued growth strategy.”

The scheme is the first of its kind in the UK and helps businesses access advice and support as and when they need it.  Funding is available for the next three years to around 180 new members – 60 each year – with the £80 discount making it affordable for all small companies.

The FSB is waiving the joining fee and the district council is providing a £50 subsidy towards the cost of membership – which means a year’s membership comes in for just £75.

“We are delighted that small businesses in the area are joining the scheme and taking advantage of this offer” said Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Peter Wilkinson.

“This is a great partnership with the FSB and the scheme is another example of how we are encouraging businesses to take up these opportunities and assisting companies in Hambleton.”

And Simon Williams, North Yorkshire Regional Chairman for the FSB added, “We are delighted to be working with Hambleton District Council on this fantastic initiative. It is great to see so many businesses taking up the offer and really taking advantage of the fantastic deal. It is another great example of how the council is working to provide practical on the ground support for their small and micro businesses, which are the backbone of Hambleton’s economy.”

The offer includes access to a legal helpline, HR support including contracts, independent advice on tax and VAT, telecom benefits, small business insurance, mobile card payment terminal and savings on business banking.
