CCAD: Proposed Restructure and Redundancies

CCADThis morning, senior members of CCAD Management met with UCU representatives about the proposed restructure and redundancies taking place.

Both the trade union and the College are committed to a consultation process and wish to work towards a solution that avoids the need for compulsory redundancies and to that end have agreed:

1.)    To extend the consultation process;

2.)    To postpone the deadline for individuals to express interest in new posts;

3.)    To continue to ask for comments and feedback from those affected during the consultation period;

4.)    To look at ways of mitigating the impact of redundancies;

5.)    To meet again on Tuesday 28th June 2016;

Stuart Slorach, Vice-Principal of CCAD says:

“The College is committed to continue consultation with its staff and the trade union and we are hoping that this extended period allows us to move forward in partnership.  We look forward to working with UCU to the benefit of our staff and students”

Jon Bryan, Regional Support Official, UCU, says:

“We are pleased that the College met with us today to discuss our concerns and we hope that we can continue to meet and agree ways where compulsory redundancies can be avoided.”

CCAD is in outstanding financial health, but to stay that way and ensure we meet the needs of our current and future students, we regularly review our staffing.

In this case 10 people have been issued at risk notices but have the opportunity to apply for 7 jobs. We are working with the UCU and have agreed a number of ways in which the impact of this is softened and to avoid compulsory redundancies.
