C4C Square LogoFrom July 14th 2015, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows Server 2003 (WS2003) and Small Business Server 2003 (SBS2003). This will impact over 9.1 million businesses globally, but more importantly, over 350,000 throughout the UK.

The end of support essentially means that from July 14th 2015 any business operating a 2003 server will become susceptible to viruses and hackers due to Microsoft no longer developing any more patch (anti virus) updates. To put this into perspective, in 2013 alone Microsoft released 37 updates for 2003 servers that it classed as critical, this equates to one update every 9 days.

Phil Donoghue, Managing Director of Cloud4 Computers commented:

“This change is going to impact a lot of businesses, most of which aren’t yet aware that they will be one of the 350,000. Since October last year Cloud4 have been assisting businesses from all over the North East finding a fix for the impending problems. We’re here to help anyone that will be affected by Server 2003 End of Life, we’re in the process of setting up free helplines and producing documents detailing exactly what your options are.

On the plus side this is a great opportunity for businesses to revisit their IT operations and embrace new, faster, more efficient technology. Every business from the North East that we’ve assisted have told us that they wish they’d looked at their IT years ago.

In partnership with North East Connected, Cloud4 Computers are offering all businesses based in the North East a free consultation to assist them with Server 2003 and Small Business Server End of Life problems.
