Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 14.48.25Coast & Country is looking to recruit volunteers to take part in its ‘DIY SOS’ themed days that will be used to revive a local community centre.

Volunteers are invited to the Oakley Walk Centre in Bankfields, Normanby to help spruce up the paint work and plant in the garden.

The work aims to benefit the entire community creating a centre that is more inviting and that local residents will want to make use of.

Galliford Try Partnerships North is the contractor supporting Coast & Country with the work, providing much needed skills for the more advanced building work.

Johanna Watts, Community Investment Officer for Coast & Country, said: “The fresh look of the Oakley Walk Community Centre will be fantastic for everyone who lives in the local area. It is important all our facilities remain at a high standard to benefit our residents as much as possible.

“Everyone is welcome, no matter how little DIY experience they have. We are hoping to get as many people involved as possible so it is a fun and enjoyable project for the community.”

Keith Wright, Operations Manager with Galliford Try Partnerships North said: “We are delighted to be a part of this fantastic initiative and are always keen to be involved in projects that benefit the communities in which we build. I urge people to come down and join us in doing something positive for the local area.”

The volunteering days are on Friday 13th, 20th and 27th May and will run from 10am-3pm, lunch and refreshments will be provided. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should call 01642 837266 for more information.
