Coast & Country Wins Prestigious Development Award

17867A Coast & Country development in Redcar has won the ‘Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development’ award in the Northern section of the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards.

Winning this prize means that the Coast & Country scheme has been automatically entered into the national awards, which will be held in London later in the year.

Coast & Country won the award for its Havelock Park development on Roseberry Road in Redcar. The development was created in conjunction with Keepmoat Regeneration and Shuttleworth Picknett and Associates. The development has 337 properties with 113 affordable rent and 30 shared ownership homes provided by Coast & Country.

The 44 unit apartment block, which is specifically for over 55s, is the centre piece of the development.  It is striking and recognisable for its unique roofline and state of the art modern design.

Anthony Brown, Property & Assets Director, said: “Reaching the grand finals of the LABC Building Excellence Awards is a fantastic achievement for Coast & Country. A considerable amount of hard work and investment went into our Havelock Park development and we are delighted to see that this work has been recognised in such a manner.”

Iain Sim, Chief Executive said, “This development is just one example of the great work that Coast & Country and its partners are doing in the communities that we serve. We are constantly working to create great places for people to live, offering quality, affordable homes and it is very rewarding to be acknowledged with this award.”

Dawn McQuillan, Chair of LABC Northern Region, said: “These awards are an opportunity for us to celebrate the very best construction in the north of England, recognising the high level of skill and professionalism the building industry is capable of reaching and many of the nominations have come from strong partnership arrangements.

“I offer my congratulations to all finalists and firmly believe that this awards ceremony demonstrates that local authority building control provides a high quality service to many of the region’s finest construction professionals.”
