North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Come along to the Carnival Jamboree

THE carnival atmosphere has arrived in Stockton early this year.

A big circus tent, The Magpie, has arrived in Parish Gardens ahead of SIRF17.

Today (Thursday 3 August) and tomorrow (Friday 4 August) an exciting programme of free carnival and circus workshops are on offer in Parish Gardens between 1.30pm and 7.30pm.

There will also be drop-in sessions with opportunities to make headdresses and flags to line the route of the “Fizz, Bang, Pop! Happy birthday SIRF” Community Carnival which will take place in Stockton Town Centre at 12pm on Saturday 5 August.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Norma Wilburn, said: “These workshops are great fun and a fantastic way to get in the mood for SIRF’s 30th birthday carnival so I would encourage children and adults alike to give them a go!”

Places at any of the workshops can be booked by calling 01642 528130 or in person at the Rediscover Stockton shop on Stockton High Street.
