Comic Books Celebrated at Stockton Library

logo-landscapeCOMIC book fans young and old are in for a treat with a day of exciting Stockton libraries events to celebrate Free Comic Book Day on Saturday 7 May.

Among the activities on offer is the chance to learn how to draw your favourite superhero, make a superhero mask and pick up a free comic book from a number of libraries across the Borough.

Between 10am and 4pm, residents are invited to attend a drawing session with renowned illustrator Keith Robson at Stockton Central Library.

Keith has been a professional artist since the 1960s and previously worked for DC Comics. He is most known for his distinctive illustrations in the famous Beano and Dandy comics and now runs drawing and illustration workshops across the UK.

During his library workshop participants will learn how to create, sketch and colour a comic book character of their own.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “Free Comic Book Day is a fantastic occasion to celebrate reading of all forms and encourage people into the library. We have an incredible day of events planned to stir your imagination so make sure you visit the Borough’s libraries and join in the fun.”

Libraries across the Borough will also have free comic books (while stocks last) to give away to children and young people who drop-in to the following libraries on the day:

All events are free of charge. Booking is not required.
