Work to introduce outline plans to the community for a proposed new residential development in a Tees Valley village is set to take place next month.
North East employer Banks Property is developing proposals for a new housing scheme on a 5.6 hectare site to the South West of the village of Kirklevington near Stockton-on-Tees.
The scheme would be for fewer than 100 properties, including family homes and areas of informal green space, and is being designed to bring a range of economic, employment, environmental, supply chain and social benefits and also contribute towards the affordable housing needs of the area.
Family-owned Banks Property is now beginning consultations with the community about the project, and will be looking to widen local involvement by holding a public drop-in sessions of its plans next month, especially on how the development could support local priorities for community improvement.
Chris Kelsey, development relations coordinator at The Banks Group, says: “There is a clear and increasingly pressing need across the region to increase the available supply of quality homes, and we firmly believe that young families should have the opportunity to live in the places where they grew up or where they wish to be.
“Our Kirklevington scheme would be a high-quality development that would help to address this issue within the borough of Stockton, and is located in an area where we are certain there will be strong demand for the type of high quality housing that would be built on this site.
“Developments in communities such as Kirklevington need to be brought forward with direct input from local people, and should be designed to be in keeping with the local surroundings, a dual approach which we will be taking with our scheme.
“Our projects are designed to bring a range of benefits to the areas in which they’re located.  We’ll be looking for ideas from local people on how this scheme could provide the resources required to help them meet their priorities for enhancing and improving the facilities available to them in their community.”
A planning application for the development is expected to be submitted to Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council later in the year.
