Courses for Horses in Stockton-on-Tees

logo-landscapeA BRAND new course for learners to create a decorative miniature wooden rocking horse of their own is being offered by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

The rocking horse carving course will introduce learners to the basics of wood construction, woodcarving techniques and different types of timber. Working with expert craftsmen, they will have the opportunity to draw out a design then develop and execute a unique woodcarving. The finished rocking horse will stand about two feet high.

This 20-week course will be held each Wednesday evening between 6.30pm and 9pm at Kiora Hall in Roseworth and commences Wednesday, 24 February.

The course costs £108 and materials will cost approximately £50, though the price will depend on the quality of the materials chosen by the learner. No previous experience is necessary and basic tools to get started will be supplied.

Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health, said: “This is the first time we have offered a miniature rocking horse course and we are really pleased to add yet another exciting opportunity to our Learning and Skills prospectus.

“The class is open to anyone whether you are experienced in woodwork or not so it is a perfect way to try something new, develop your skills and create a beautiful handcrafted rocking horse for yourself or as a special gift. I am sure the course will be very popular so I would recommend that people book early to secure a place.”
