Creation of £500,000 Middlesbrough restaurant is complete

Screen Shot 2015-10-30 at 14.46.40The creation of a visually stunning new restaurant in central Middlesbrough is complete with Oven, where £500,000 has been invested, opening its doors this weekend. (5pm October 31)

Oven, which has created employment for 45 people, is making an impact on the street scene in Linthorpe Road, with an outside seating area carpeted with astro turf and featuring handcrafted artisan chairs and tables.

The interior, where there is room for up to 160 diners, is equally eye-catching with backlit screen printed artwork, colourful lighting and striking décor.

From the culinary perspective Oven will serve up dishes featuring English, French, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours with the emphasis being on Michelin star-style food at affordable prices.  Bookings are being taken for Christmas.

All the restaurant’s chefs have been trained by professional cooks, who boast a Michelin star rating.

The culinary connoisseur behind the venture is Tarek Thoma, who famously once cooked for President George Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair, when he worked at the Dun Cow in Sedgefield.

Oven is located at Central Point, which has been developed by regeneration entrepreneur Geoff Hogg, owner of Linthorpe Developments.  Geoff has been so impressed with Tarek’s concept for Oven that he has invested in the business.

Tarek also has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants including the L’Escargot in London and Chapter One in Kent.

He said: “After months of preparation and hard work, it is so exciting that Oven now is ready to open for business.

“It is fantastic to see the plans come to life with the reality of Oven’s interior and exterior design and the creation of mouth-watering dishes looking even better in reality than on paper.

“My staff and I are looking forward to welcoming guests to Oven and serving them with Michelin star-style food at very affordable prices.”

Geoff said:  “This area of Middlesbrough is becoming a hive of culinary activity and Oven will bring something different to this growing gastronomic scene.”

Oven will have more than 50 free secure car parking spaces with valet parking available at the weekend.

Geoff has more than 20 years’ experience in the property sector and during this time, he has amassed a strong mixed portfolio of retail, office and residential schemes, totalling an investment of £30 million, across the North East.
