CREEPY crawlies and snakes were the latest admissions to Ingleby Care Home – as residents enjoyed a close encounter with creatures normally found at the zoo.

The elderly residents of the Lamb Lane home, in Ingleby Barwick, handled spiders, millipedes, turtles and snakes, among other cold-blooded creatures.

ZooLab, the UK’s leading animal handling workshop provider, brought in the animals.

Carol Singleton, home manager at Ingleby Care Home, said: “The residents thoroughly enjoyed handling the reptiles and spiders. It was a new experience for many of them.

“We are always looking to provide something different for our residents to experience and enjoy.

“When the animal handlers brought in the snakes and spiders, the residents faces lit up. It sparked off a lot of laughter, interest, energy and entertainment.”
