Cricketers bowled over by success

Hambleton and RichmondshireSCHOOLBOY cricketers are being bowled over by success after being selected to play at the top level.

Fast bowler Harry Hill has just been selected for the North Yorkshire County side, a vital step in the pursuit of his dream to play professionally one day.

Opening batsman and leg spin bowler Joseph O’Keeffe plays for Masham, Hambleton and Richmondshire and has undergone professional coaching at Headingly, the spiritual home of Yorkshire cricket.

Both 13-year-olds are students at The Wensleydale School & Sixth Form College, Leyburn.

Harry, of Masham, has also been part of the Yorkshire Pathways Squad and plays for Masham and area.

He said: “I love pace bowling and getting the batsmen out. I’m really pleased to have been selected for county as it should really raise my game.”

Joseph, of Coverham, added: “I enjoy my cricket and would love to play for Yorkshire one day.”

Head of PE Lee Wasden said: “Both boys really do thrive on their cricket and richly deserve their success.”
