Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Screen Shot 2016-05-04 at 12.14.55Around 80 Stokesley schoolchildren enjoyed a great cycling themed roadshow last week.

The event organised by Hambleton District Council with Lindsey Asher – Stokesley Schools Sports Coordinator took place at Stokesley High School and was attended by pupils from Stokesley, Roseberry and Mount Grace Primary Schools.

“The children enjoyed a day split into cycle themed activities,” said  David Earl – Development Officer – Health and Wellbeing.

“It included cycling over ramps and negotiating obstacles, a cycle racing presentation and they even made their own fruit smoothies by using pedal power to blend fresh fruit.

“We are always looking at ways of encouraging more people to cycle through the district council “Get Hambleton Cycling” scheme, and the roadshow was a legacy event which was linked to the Tour de Yorkshire.”

And Lindsey Asher added, “The children had a fantastic time, achieved things that they probably didn’t know they could and the teachers were very complimentary of all the different activities on offer.  It was great to see the smiles on all the children’s faces, the fantastic support they gave to each other and the amazing teamwork/sharing so readily to make the most of their opportunity.”

The day was supported by North Yorkshire County Council Waste and Countryside Services, British Cycling and Zenith Leisure
