“DANCING Ann” raspberry gin has been produced by residents and staff at a Blyth care home.

Those at The Oaks Care Home, on Durban Street, produced the gin by infusing fresh fruit with liquor and leaving it to mature for over three months.

After being decanted into a bottle, it was named “Dancing Ann Gin” in honour of former resident Ann Wallace, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Ann was one of those who came up with the idea and was supported by the home’s activities coordinator, Angela Hedley, to produce the gin.

Angela said: “It’s called Dancing Ann Gin in her honour, as she was the home’s dancing queen and was up and moving to any music at the drop of a hat.

“The gin has been infusing since February so that all of the raspberry flavour is now in the spirit itself.

“It has matured and is now ready to drink, so staff and residents decanted it into a fresh bottle and everyone enjoyed a nippy sweetie.

“Everyone raised a toast to Ann to bid her farewell.”
