For safety reasons, there will be a range of road closures in the town centre and changes made to bus stops along the route. Closures and changes will be in operation at various times between 6am and 2pm.  Road users are advised to avoid the race route between these times. Details can be found on the Council’s website at http://www.darlington.gov.uk/10krun

There will also be temporary suspensions to bus stops on Woodland Road, Hollyhurst Road, Coniscliffe Road and Houndgate stand N.

Race Director Phil Haymer said:

“We are busy making final preparations for Sunday and need to stress to road users that roads along the race route will be closed at various points and times during the morning. To avoid delays and congestion it is best to plan your route to take into account the road closures.

“2016 will be the 29th year for Darlington’s 10K road race. The annual race has gone from strength to strength over the years and we are delighted to have Sherwoods as our headline sponsor for the 14th year running, which is again working in partnership with Vauxhall.

“This year we’d also like to welcome Start Fitness, who are providing our prizes voucher package and thanks also go to The Northern Echo, More Mile, TFM and Imagine Physiotherapy who are supporting the 10K again this year, along with Northumbrian Water who have kindly contributed towards the water bottles for all participants on the day.”

Sunday will see hundreds of young runners taking part in the Junior 3K run, supported by NHS Darlington Clinical Commissioning Group, following its re-introduction last year. Families can take part in the Family Fun Run starting at 9am which is open to all ages, including pushchairs.

Registration for the Family Fun Run is on the day at the Dolphin Centre and participants are encouraged to sign up well before the race starts at 9am on High Row.
