Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Darlington prepares to pop the cork on its first ever Bar and Restaurant Week

From Saturday 20 to Tuesday 30 August, corks will be popping as restaurants, cafés, pubs and wine bars across the town centre bring customers a range of special deals and offers.

Free bottles of fizz and up to 50 per cent discounts on food are just some of the treats on offer during the course of the event, which organiser, BID company Distinct Darlington, hopes will shine a spotlight on the town’s hospitality sector.

So far around 15 companies have signed up to take part in Darlington Bar and Restaurant Week, including Porters, at Queen Street, Tanners, at Skinnergate and the Duke Bombay Café, Duke Street, which are each offering a 20 per cent discount on food.

The King’s Grill Restaurant at Mercure Darlington is offering three courses for just £15, while Truffle, Grange Road, is slashing 50 per cent off food ordered from its à la carte menu.

Diners at Houndgate Townhouse and Akbar the Great, Bondgate, will be able to enjoy a free bottle of prosecco for a table of four and Hash Bar and Kitchen, Coniscliffe Road, is giving a free draught beer or glass of prosecco to anyone who buys a burger during specified times.

Darlington Bar and Restaurant Week will also showcase the town centre’s recently unveiled Feethams leisure complex where Woollen Mill customers who spend £25 on food will receive a free bottle of house wine and Bella Italia is offering two courses for £13.95 and three for £17.95.

“The Quays and Crombies at Tubwell Row, The Keys and Al Forno at Skinnergate, Bijou at Crown Street and Manhattan’s Coffee House and Bar, at Bondgate, are also offering a wide range of deals and discounts,” said Distinct Darlington manager Alex Hirst, “so this really is a town centre-wide initiative.

“We’re delighted so many venues have jumped on board with this and we hope it encourages people to come to Darlington and find out for themselves what a great place it is to visit and enjoy a meal or drinks.”

The offers will be available as vouchers which customers will be able to collect from shops and businesses throughout the town centre or download from Distinct Darlington’s website at  www.distinctdarlington.co.uk.
