Durham County Council is to carry out repairs to a bridge on the A688 after it was damaged by a vehicle which will see a diversion in place from next week.
Starting on Saturday 20 August until Monday 29 August 2016, there will be a carriageway closure and lane restriction on the A688 Middlestone Moor bypass between junctions C152 Middlestone Moor/Binchester roundabout and C152/A688 dual carriageway at the ‘Gas works’ roundabout.
During this time a diversion will be in place while the eastbound carriageway is closed with the westbound carriageway reduced to one lane.
The diversion route will be via the C152 Durham Road and Whitworth/Clyde Terrace to the roundabout junction with the link road to the A688/C152 roundabout, Spennymoor.
Brian Buckley, strategic highways manager, said: “We’d like to thank everyone for their patience while we carry out these repairs. A signed diversion will be in place to minimise any disruption as much as possible.”
